Topic #83: How did you get your name?
Today’s topic – How did you get your name?
Who chose it, and why?
My dad named me. He has a cousin named Sean and he once told me he’s always liked the name.
Though I wonder if the fact that, at the time, there was a rather famous Scottish actor named Sean didn’t enter into the equation. I’d like to think so.

I asked my mother where my name came from. She said my father picked it out of a name book. It means ‘gift from god’ and I guess because my father was told he could never bear children, I was an unexpected “gift”. That is the reason there is a 13 year gap between my two sisters and myself (they were married about 11 years before mom got knocked up). Ooops! I’m glad they didn’t decide to name me after my grandmothers (no offence to my g’mas), but I wouldn’t make a good Gladys or Wilma Joe.
First, I’d like to point out that whoever told Dorinda’s father that he couldn’t bear children was right! But, we are all pleased that he was able to father one.
My mom’s two best friends were named Donetta and Suzanne. Ergo, I am Donetta Suzanne. However, for some reason, she then decided that Suzy would be an easier shortening, so I’ve always gone by my middle name.
They could have nicknamed you Donut.
I am named after this person:
